For those of you not familiar with the Whedonverse, James Marsters is most known for playing the lovable blonde vampire Spike aka William the Bloody on the Buffy the Vampire Slayer television series. I know a lot of you out there love Spike! I met James Marsters at Dragon Con in 2008 and at The FX Convention in Orlando in Spring 2009. This guy draws big crowds and the lines are long to meet him. If you are a fan you may know James Marsters is a musician, he first played with the band Ghost and the Robot and has two solo albums that I am aware of. He is also an American, he just played a British baddie on TV. I took these photographs of James at a concert he gave on the same weekend as the FX Convention in Orlando. The lighting was really bizarre and constantly changing and I was surrounded by really tall people so be gentle critiquing my photography skills. The concert was just him and his guitar and I would describe the music as a folksy blues mixture. I usually like a little more edge to my tunes but I enjoyed listening and looking at him all the same. Enjoy!
ZOMBIE RULES! I’ve been waiting four long years for Rob Zombie to release another album! I have been anticipating the February 2nd release date of Hellbilly Deluxe 2 for some time now. Click on the photo for a small taste of what is to come and see Rob Zombie’s newest rockin’ music video Sick Bubblegum! Thanks Noisecreep for the sneak peek!
These are photos I took of Ghoultown at the Spooky Empire convention in Orlando last month. I absolutely love the unique hard western horror themed rockabilly sound of their music. Check out their official website here and see what I’m talking about! Ghoultown Rocks!!!!
” Horror Rawkillbilly”, “N.Y.C.’s bloodiest band”, ” Bastard sons of the King hisself” all words used to describe the bloody band Psycho Charger. I got to experience Psycho Charger up close at Spooky Empire’s Horror Convention this year in Orlando. The group sounded fantastic! ”Horror Rawkillbilly” describes it better than any phrase I could invent. Listening to them made me feel energized and I screamed a lot while they were playing. They look pretty cool too. Covered with tattoos and blood and wearing only underpants (well the base player was wearing socks) they were a sight to behold. According to Psycho Charger’s Official Gravesite they have played over 100 live shows a year all over the world since 2004. Here are some photos of my experience with the bloody band Psycho Charger.
The gorgeous lead singer of Godhead - Jason Charles Miller - Orlando 2009
I had the pleasure of meeting Godheadlead singer Jason Miller at the 2009 FX Convention in Orlando. Godhead has been around for about 15 years and I am not very good at categorizing music, but I would say they started out with a industrial metal sound and now have a hard rock/metal sound. I first heard of them early on because they were signed to Marilyn Manson’s record label Posthuman. Anyway back to Jason Miller and his giant brown eyes and tattoo covered body. He is such a beautiful man and I am extremely proud of myself for not drooling all over his table. I remember him being very sweet and soft spoken. Truly, it was all I could do to keep from swooning and peacefulgirl is not a swooner. Later that day he did stop by the booth where I was getting a tattoo and said ”Hey”. Swoon……. Damn! He smiled and then disappeared rather quickly after I told him I was having his name inked on my leg. It was just a tiny little white lie and somehow it was the only thing I could come up with to say and I had to say something. Just a side note – in case you weren’t aware- tatto artists are conveniently commonplace at most all of the conventions I have attended.
Jason Miller was at this convention because ofJuliet Landau(Drusilla from The Buffy the Vampire Slayer television series). Juliet co-directed and co-starred in the Godhead music videoHero. The first single from their latest album At the Edge of the World. Before the Q&A with Jason and Juliet the music video was shown with a brief behind the scenes short. The song and the video both have a pleasantly dark and haunting feel to them.
That evening, after the James Marsters concert, Jason sang a few songs on his own. He mentioned a solo album coming out this Fall and Juliet Landau joined him for a few songs.
